URBAN Art & Murals

Urban art is the central component of our work! Murals and street art have unique potential to transform spaces, making it what binds everything else we do together. We are at the forefront of the global urban art scene, with a significant momentum to unfold in cities around the world.

urban art
as a transformation tool

Fostering A sense of belonging

Through the visual aesthetic, murals promote a sense of community, identity, belonging and attachment to place.

Urban art as Creative Placemaking

Many creative placemaking initiatives revolve around urban art and murals in particular are highly effective tools. This is primarily because of their physical integration into their environment and their WOOOW-impact.

Driving Tourism & experience value

Mural programs can be used as economic development initiatives with the goal of increasing tourism and property values, while taking into consideration “gentlefication” principles. Furthermore, the commercial retail areas become more vibrant and attractive destinations for visitors, as well as for local residents.

supporting preservation and resilience of destinations

Murals add a creative aesthetic to the built environment, which energizes neglected neighborhoods and enhances districts where new developments are taking place. These processes can create a sense of destination, adding to the unique vibe of that specific area. When linked to cultural preservation efforts, murals can also highlight their diversity and resilience.

Facilitating public-private partnerships

Murals can connect artists, community organizations, non-profits, small businesses, developers, government agencies, education and cultural institutions etc. in collaborative creative engagement projects.

When street art galleries and public art projects are organized properly and directly involve members of the local community - they can be galvanizing symbols of unity, respect and mutual acknowledgement. Such works of art can be transformative and beautifying, often stimulating viewers to reconsider how they perceive their local area.

OUR SERVICES

curate - install - celebrate - manage

Curating murals and managing creative urban atmospheres is our main expertise. We start with a meeting, getting to know more about your preferences, what matters to you, and which locations you are considering for your murals. At this point, we will review the range of possibilities and options and come up with solutions for you.

We will pick the most fitting visual artist for the particular spot, and having over 2000 international artist portfolios, we know we have the style matching your mural project. Depending on your wishes, degree of community voice, locations and architectural space, we consider all aspects of the process. We will also make sure to assist you in managing and maintaining these creative solutions when needed. Once we know the preferred artist and space, we can issue a quotation including the timetable, project conditions, and budget.

The artist will present the final design once more for the last review. Subsequently, the approved design will be executed at the location. Festivities and PR activities could accompany the delivery. For more information, see case example Unveilings & Vernissages.

1 | Street Art & Mural Festivals

Events have the power to bring people together, to entertain and inform, but also educate and inspire. With our festival team we can help you plan, execute and evaluate meaningful events. We can lead the event and run it from A-Z or help with individual components such as:

  • Audience engagement

  • Brand identity

  • Artist sourcing and handling

  • Workshops

Hosting a street art festival in your community is a unique way to bring people together and provide them with shared experiences.

These events allow for street artists and muralists from all over the world to come together and express their creativity in front of the community. They provide a focal point for urban street culture and urban art forms in order to reach a larger community.

Street Studies is one of the core organizers and developers of Meeting of Styles, one of the largest street art organizations in the world. As its name suggests, it is a number of global street art events where styles meet, created to support the networking of the international art community.

Since 2015, we have been the proud organizers of the Copenhagen version, with a unique location in front of Tivoli’s main entrance and Axel Towers. The festival provides ¼ kilometer of walls featuring some of the world’s hottest and skilled street art profiles. Tourists and locals turn around a corner and are instantly WOW’ed with the sheer magnitude of colour, size and creativity.

2 | Unveilings & Vernissages

Celebrate your art in style! We can celebrate with various forms of unveilings, PR and marketing activities, both in person and online.

Invite the community and stakeholders to an unveiling: create a larger buzz and impact on your piece by allowing us to organize an opening - from inviting djs and food trucks to storytelling sessions, we can put a memorable experience together.

3 | Lectures & Workshops

Our expert team on all things urban art holds lectures on murals and the importance of art in public spaces. These lectures focus on relevant topics such as the organizing of cultural entrepreneurship, styles and schools within street art and muralism, urban safety through street art etc. Both the role of murals and its many interpretations are rich in meaning and say so much about the past and current social, cultural and political landscape.

If desired, workshops can be held in combination with the lectures. Workshops and lectures can be organized at your location, but why not take it to the streets where we can use murals and creative elements as a backdrop and sources of inspiration?
